During the 2009 legislative session Louisiana lawmakers will decide the immediate future structure of the film tax credit incentives enacted in 2002 as the original dates for the program near their “sunset.” The new session begins April 27 but this week Governor Jindal has already begun publicly addressing the issue.

Smoke Free Casinos; Not All is Clear Under the Smoke Screen
Prohibiting smoking in casinos could save lives but lose money. Currently, casinos which still have a choice are choosing short lives and more money. Antismoking campaigners are optimistic that all casinos will be smoke-free in time.

On April 12th, 2007 in Washington, DC - Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Susan M. Collins (R-ME) and Representative Robert E. Andrews (D-NJ) announced they are reintroducing legislation in the Senate and House of Representatives to establish a military service medal to honor Cold War Veterans. The Cold War Medal Act of 2007 honors those veterans who fought for our freedom and served their nation admirably during the Cold War.
