Professor Larry Andrews says he had good role models, one of whom was the literary father of Dick, Jane, ad Baby Sally. During his 40-year career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln he wrote numerous articles published in scholarly journals. He wrote four university textbooks, one translated for use in South Korea. My mentors modeled published scholarship. When he retired in 2008, however, he knew how to write in only one mode: expository prose in scholarly contexts. "I've got to reinvent Larry Andrews," he told himself.
