Gay & Lesbian Yellow Pages® to Host Ribbon Cutting in Galveston
GALVESTON, Texas – The Gay Yellow Pages Network, a pioneering publisher in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender marketplace, will host a ribbon cutting and open house at the island’s first gay visitors center on Thursday, Jan. 10. The ribbon cutting will occur at 5 p.m., followed by an open-house co-hosted by GayIslander.com until 7 p.m.
The event will be catered by The Market Café, which will provide hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine for guests. Original art by local GLBT artists will be on display. In addition, travel professionals will be available to talk about the diverse selection of vacation opportunities that cater to the GLBT community, and Gay Islander Visitors Center representatives will be on hand to introduce guests to the variety of community resources that serve area residents’ needs in every category.
Simpson’s Gallery and The Parrot have provided door prizes for the event.
For more than 18 years, the Gay Yellow Pages Network has published a print guide to GLBT-friendly businesses in several U.S. cities. Formatted in a familiar “phone book” style, the Gay & Lesbian Yellow Pages® and the associated website at GayYellow.com are where members of the GLBT community turn to find complete and up-to-date information about the services they seek.
The Gay Islander Visitors Center opened Dec. 10 in Galveston’s historic Strand district. Located at 302 Rosenberg (25th) St., the center is designed to serve as a comprehensive travel and lifestyle resource for the GLBT community.
