Holocaust Documentary Goes to Cannes
South London Filmmakers to screen film in Prestigious Festival
Surviving History will have its world premier at the 2009 Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner from May 13-22. Made by first-time directors and brothers Jesse and Daniel Quinones of South East London, this moving 30-minute documentary portrays the story of seven Lithuanian Jews as they relive the horrifying memories of their time in the Holocaust and the inspirational ways in which they managed to survive.
“To hear their stories has been one of the most amazing and painful experiences of my life,” said Jesse Quinones. “Some of the things they had to endure were just heartbreaking. You can’t imagine how a human being could do this to another. Especially on this scale.”
