Hit the Ground Crawling!

Why have 100,000 new dads “taken the nursery to the locker room?

It turns out to be the secret to making kids happier, smarter, and better achievers throughout their livesand it’s definitely a guy thing. In his new book, Hit the Ground Crawling: The Essential Guide for New Fathers, Greg Bishop, founder of the internationally acclaimed Boot Camp for New Dads, shows new fathers how to be the kind of dads they want to belocked in and looked up tofrom the very beginning.

“It’s a brave new world for brave new dads.
Life Magazine

“After a century or so of baby care being considered women’s work, men collectively don’t have a lot of experience with infants, says Greg. “Most first-time fathers have never even held a baby, and for some guys, puppies are more interestinguntil they finally hold their own babiesthat is. Then they’re hooked. We show them the ropes, in less time than it takes to watch Monday Night Football. “We have fun, but ultimately becoming a father is an important call to manhood, says Greg.

“The aspect of fatherhood that terrifies me most is being responsible for another human being. But as I sat with my new baby curled up against me, that fear began to fade.
Parents Magazine

Based on Boot Camp for New Dads, now celebrating 15 years as the nation’s premier training program for new fathers. Over 100,000 men from across the nation have contributed practical, hands on tips to get men ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

“Your baby will grab hold of your heart, provide you a new and serious source of strength, and add dimensions to your life that are unimaginable until it happens, says Greg.

What dads really want (and what moms need to hear, too) is straight talk on the important issues that have traditionally kept many dads on the sidelines:
• What dads offer that babies can’t get anywhere else
• Why dad is not an assistant mom, and no one should expect him to be
• 10 Ways a dad’s early involvement instantly benefits his kids
• How “dad time makes children smarter, happier, and better achievers
• The power of play and sportsfrom peek-a-boo to Monday Night Football
• What to do when someone says, “You’re doing it wrong
• Why doing what comes naturally is the best gift any dad can give his baby

OK, there is definitely a lighter side to all this, such as: Groundbreaking research on how football and a big screen TV benefit the baby (Try to keep a straight face when explaining this one to mom.)

The Ultimate Owner’s Manual
Your audience will learn practical, hands on tips that prepare any dad for the immense joy and challenge of raising a baby:
-From diapering to burping and back again -Keeping your baby safe and sound
-Caring forand survivingnew moms -Transitioning pets
-Juggling your growing family, job, personal time -Returning to romance
-Forming a new family and teamwork -And more!

How We Got Started
Boot Camp for New Dads started on Father’s Day 1990 when four fathers, with their babies on their laps, sat down with a dozen men who had their first baby on the way. The veterans talked about their experiences and offered advice. When several “rookies said they had never held a baby before, the veterans carefully handed them their own. It was like a nursery in a locker room, and any nervousness evaporated as the guys started kidding each other about technique, etc. Greg brings all the details of this dad-to-dad approach to life in interviews and in Hit the Ground Crawling, 300 pages of premium coaching for every new dad.

National Media Appearances:
The Today Show, Regis and Kelly, Leeza, news segments on ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN as well as articles in CHILD, Parents, Life, Ladies Home Journal, Reader’s Digest and more.
